The Subaru Crosstrek is a subcompact SUV that debuted in 2016, when it split off from and succeeded the Subaru XV Crosstrek of model years 2013, 2014, and 2015.

Its first year, 2.0i, 2.0i Premium, and 2.0i Limited trims were available, and they incorporated 2.0-liter, flat-four (BOXER) engines paired to a choice of either five-speed manual or continuously variable (CVT) transmission. There were also Hybrid and Hybrid Touring models offered, with 2.0-liter, flat-four engines mated to electric motors.
