The Subaru WRX has been its own of line compact sports cars since 2015, when it split off from the Subaru Impreza; up to then, it had only been available as a trim duo in the Impreza line -- WRX, and WRX STI, the latter developed by Subaru Tecnica International, the brand's motorsports division.
That year, you could get either a turbocharged 2.0-liter, flat-four engine or a 2.5-liter turbo, paired with either a six-speed manual or a continuously variable (CVT) transmission. Subaru Symmetrical all-wheel drive came standard, and features ranged from alloy wheels and dual-zone climate control to LED headlights, a rear spoiler, and more. For 2021, features included a sport suspension, Brembo brakes, air conditioning, an optional Subaru EyeSight Driver Assist package, splash guards, and all-weather floor mats, among others.
